Five Top Spots In The Caribbean
The Caribbean is a great getaway from home. There are a number of different islands to make your trip a great one.
One of the most popular destinations is the Bahamas. It’s a great tourist attraction that not only gains more popularity with the hit movie series, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, but has an overall great feel. There’s great shopping on Bay Street in Nassau. Check out the Junkanoo festival to get a rich history of the African heritage in the Bahamas.
Another great location to check out is Puerto Rico.You can find a quick rundown here Not only do you get another island vibe, but a rich history. Old San Juan is great spot to dig up some really nice history about Old Puerto Rico. Both English and Spanish are spoken as the national languages. There’s also a great music culture here with recent breakthroughs in Hip-Hop and Reggaeton (a more upbeat version of reggae).
Another cool destination to check out is Jamaica. This is one of the most popular places in the Caribbean known for it’s great Caribbean food such as it’s oxtail, plantain, curry from the Indian influence amongst other things. Also, it has a great music scene with it’s Dancehall and Reggae at the forefront.
Trinidad and Tobago is another nice place to check out especially during Carnival. This is very culture event with Soca music, great costumes, and a real party atmosphere. Carnival is a huge event in Trinidad and Tobago and rivals the one in Brazil.
Lastly, a great spot to visit is the Dominican Republic. Take in the great dancing of Merengue as a very sensual yet classic dance style. Also, the beaches are really beautiful such as Punta Cana. This place is the first spot that Christopher Columbus actually made a significant European settlement on in the Americas.
